The first Chapter heading # For people wishing to study the Hid Divinity, basis of Christian Theology
A lot of modern translations of the Hid Divinity exist nowadays. This one is an enhanced copy, using modern hybrid Celtic lettering and design work. Used traditionally in western religious study as the concise basis of Christian Theology, with its references to Old and New Bible Testaments.
A SHORT OUTLINE.
It seems the original book appeared first in the early Greek writings on Christianity. Various people have been attributed as the author, the most likely include Dionysus the Areopagite and St Dennis the Carthusian. Besides being originally in the Greek, translations into Latin and most other European languages followed through the ages. This one follows the wording style of versions in English, by the writer of 'The Cloud of Unknowing', who remains an unnamed author to this day. The Cloud of Unknowing being a detailed breakdown of meditative practise (both in knowledge and absorbtion), based on the 5 concise chapters of the Hid Divinity, which is referred to continuously throughout its text.
The difference in wording/translation through the ages is very close, so much so that the concepts outlined are relatively easily understood, even in this modern time. This book deals in brief with the whole outline of how God is, and how one might come closer to Him. So many theological commentaries have been written, that any mistake in perception or ability to attain, is rendered impossible by the availability of commentarial writings. These are now freely available on the internet, for any further clarification of meaning.
The PDF, freely available (see below), contains the full five written chapters. This was a calligraphy project, done in the mid 1980's, its hybrid Celtic alphabet was designed to make the writing process easier. Only recently scanned in its entirety, each page has been meticulously enhanced and cleaned using desktop publishing software. The original title page now added, along with the graphical drawings, in the art forms of the Celtic biblical style. Their meanings, when interpreted revolve around the symbology of squared and triangular shapes with other constructions, which go back to Egyptian and Greek design concepts. These embelish the text at chapter sections, with colourful and fine-looking art work. This is a major update to the computer-font version shown on this webpage from 2016.
